Using ThoughtStore

Do I need an account?

No. ThoughtStore doesn’t require an account or sign-in. You can start using the app straight away.

What’s the difference between Journal and Echo?

Journal is for a thought where there’s something worth capturing or reflecting on. Echo is a quicker way to notice when a familiar thought returns without creating another Journal entry.

Where can I find my previous Journal entries?

Your saved entries are kept in History, where you can return to them whenever you choose.

What does Patterns show me?

Patterns helps you explore themes across the Journal entries you’ve chosen to record, including categories, triggers, intensity and timing. It reflects what you’ve journalled; it doesn’t assess or diagnose your health anxiety.

What is Breathe for?

Breathe is a simple pause point, offering guided breathing with optional ambient sound when you want a moment to pause and redirect your attention.

Your data & privacy

Where are my thoughts stored?

Your Journal and Echo data is stored on your device. It isn’t sent to a ThoughtStore server, and we don’t see the thoughts you record.

Is my data backed up?

ThoughtStore data may be included in your device back up if you use Apple's iCloud Backup. For more information, see our App Privacy Policy.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings → Export Data. You can export your Journal data, Echo data, or both, then choose where to save or share the exported files.

Once exported, you control where those copies are stored or shared.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete individual entries or all ThoughtStore data from within the app.

Can anyone else see my thoughts?

ThoughtStore doesn’t send your Journal and Echo data to us.

Access to ThoughtStore is protected using your device’s authentication, such as Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode.

For more information, see our App Privacy Policy.

Accessibility

Does ThoughtStore work with VoiceOver?

ThoughtStore is designed to work with VoiceOver, with accessibility information provided for supported interactive elements.

Why does the breathing animation look different on my device?

If Reduce Motion is enabled in your iPhone’s accessibility settings, some movement and animation in ThoughtStore may be reduced or simplified.

Technical help

Something isn’t working. What should I do?

Make sure you’re using the latest versions of ThoughtStore and iOS. Try closing and reopening the app or restarting your device. If the problem continues, get in touch.

How do I report a bug?

Get in touch and if possible, include:

  • what you were doing;
  • what you expected to happen;
  • what actually happened;
  • your iPhone model and iOS version; and
  • a screenshot, if useful.
