Why ThoughtStore?
Because we've been there.
ThoughtStore grew from lived experience of health anxiety.
We know what it’s like when a health worry doesn’t simply disappear. When the same thought returns, when you find yourself thinking about it again, or when something that seemed settled suddenly feels very present.
We looked for something that fitted that experience.
There were plenty of broad wellbeing apps, mood trackers and journals. But we wanted something more focused, somewhere private to put a health-related thought when there was genuinely something worth capturing, without creating another habit that demanded our attention every day.
So, we built ThoughtStore.
It's quieter
We didn’t want an app that rewarded you for opening it.
No streaks. No social feed. No pressure to complete a daily check-in. And no expectation that more journalling means you’re doing better.
ThoughtStore is designed to be useful when you want it and quiet when you don’t.
Why Journal and Echo are different
One of the things we kept coming back to was repetition.
Sometimes a thought comes with something new. It could be a different trigger, context or reflection that’s worth capturing.
That’s what Journal is for.
But sometimes it’s simply the same worry coming back.
We didn’t think that needed another full Journal entry. Echo grew from that idea: a lighter way to notice that a familiar thought has returned without having to tell the whole story again.
Journal when there’s something worth unpacking.
Echo when there’s nothing new to resolve.
Designed with boundaries
Some of ThoughtStore’s most important decisions are about what we chose not to build.
It doesn’t diagnose symptoms. It doesn’t tell you whether a worry is justified. It doesn’t provide reassurance. It doesn’t turn your Journal into a clinical assessment.
And it isn’t designed to keep you scrolling.
ThoughtStore has a much smaller purpose: somewhere to capture what matters, notice when familiar thoughts return, recognise patterns in what you’ve chosen to record, and take a pause when you want one.
Personal. Private. Purposefully simple.
Health-related thoughts can be intensely personal.
That’s why ThoughtStore doesn’t require an account and doesn’t send your Journal and Echo data to a ThoughtStore server.
It’s also why we’ve tried to keep the experience calm and focused.
Store the thought. Notice when it returns. Get on with your day.
